i want to feel you standing still, if but for only just an hour i might gather up the will
i try to grow what i can’t kill, and though i tend and nourish, the harvest it just doesn’t yield my fill

one by one...we join a crowd of people standing there and staring at the sun
two by two...we try to walk it off and talk but still don’t know what we should do

i swallowed something i can’t taste, and tried to memorize the feeling of a feeling in its place
i take much more than i can take, eventually it all just piles upon itself and fades away
and that reminds me of a dream, they’re sitting side by side and eye to eye but seeing different things

day to day...we gotta think about and talk around whatever we can’t say
play by play...the setting’s prone to change but still the scene it seems to stay the same

why can I not dream while I’m awake?
(we get caught up in the lines, we keep it set to rewind)
(we let these hearts keep the time, we think it’s all in our mind)
(we save it up for the night, we think we’re wrong when we’re right)
